Twin House, Knoxfield
Our brief for this residence in Knoxfield focussed strongly on cutting-edge contemporary architecture. The client plans to invigorate the bland style of their neighbourhood by setting the benchmark for modern construction and we intend to achieve this with pitched metal roofs, timber cladded walls and light-seeking orientation.
Sustainability is a key actor of the brief, so we have specifically orientated this home to make the most of the sun’s natural light and energy, as well as incorporating solar panels and a water tank.
The ground floor hosts the living area and garage, while upstairs is conveniently divided into two bedroom-and-bathroom pods–parents on one side and kids on the other. We have linked these pods by a hallway resembling a lightwell, providing easy access while simultaneously granting privacy and personal space.
