ELSTERNWICK
HOUSE
This Edwardian-style home in Elsternwick preserves its original front façade while incorporating a double-storey extension and landscaped area to improve functionality. The design integrates heritage features with modern architecture to meet the needs of contemporary living. The weatherboard façade transitions seamlessly into the modern extension, unified by white paint and complemented by brick, hit-and-miss brick, and timber shutters. Inside, solid timber-framed window seats enhance the open-plan kitchen, living, and dining areas, providing practicality and aesthetic warmth. Natural light floods the space, with east-facing bedrooms capturing morning sun, while the rear living spaces benefit from northern exposure, optimizing both daylight and energy performance. The backyard is designed as a private retreat, featuring a pool, deck, outdoor shower, BBQ pod, and lush garden. This renovation integrates heritage preservation with modern design, creating a sustainable, functional home that respects and enhances Elsternwick’s architectural character.
