This quaint home for a young family was extended with the purpose of preserving its period features, while also incorporating colours and textures to create open and dynamic spaces.  We aimed to maximise sustainability by engaging passive design principles and considering orientation and siting of the building, natural cross-ventilation, solar energy, water harvesting and by sensibly utilising other natural resources.

The living and kitchen areas have a strong connection with the outdoors through the addition of a pergola and a deck. The deck has a sculptural brick wall that deletes the boundary between internal living spaces and the landscape, making for a smooth transition from indoors to outdoors.
