PROFILE

Practice

At Star Architecture we are an emerging Melbourne-based practice committed to designing highly
individualised buildings and spaces that are sleek, intelligent and ensure their architectural potential and
close attention to detail are maximised.

In our work we pursue opportunities to maximise long-term sustainability by engaging passive design
principles and specifying environmentally friendly materials and finishes. We design buildings and
spaces that are energy efficient by considering orientation and siting of the building, natural cross-
ventilation, solar energy, water harvesting and by sensibly utilising other natural resources.
We emphasise the design of spaces that manipulate and playfully use natural light and feature carefully
selected high-quality materials and finishes resulting in spaces that are practical and enjoyable to work,
live and play in.

We continuously search for new ways to maximise value for our clients and recognise the importance of
regular cost-monitoring – a necessary constraint that we embrace as this often inspires innovative
design solutions.

With our experience and access to a wide range of resources and skills, we are highly capable of
delivering our projects on time and budget whilst ensuring client expectations are met.
We believe that the client-architect relationship carries the design process: from initial conversations to
concept, ongoing consultation to completion.

We are determined to build and maintain the client-architect connection as a strong and healthy
relationship, and in 2018 Star Architecture was acknowledged and shortlisted for the Architects
Registration Board of Victoria (ARBV) ‘Architectural Services Award’.

We likewise pride ourselves on healthy and collaborative relationships with our builders, consultants
and specialists we engage throughout the various stages of a project to deliver high-quality architecture
and interior design.

Since our establishment in 2015, Star Architecture has been fortunate to complete a variety of projects
from residential new-builds, additions and alterations, to hospitality and office fit-outs in various
suburbs of Melbourne including Northcote, Hawthorn East, Elwood, Elsternwick, St Kilda and Melbourne
CBD.

Aleksandra Savic Rakocevic | Architect | M.Arch. (Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade)

Founder of Star Architecture, Aleksandra came to establish the practice after 15 years of international
and local industry experience.

With a diverse range of experience from small to large scale projects, Aleksandra is driven by curiosity to
find optimal ways to ensure each project is unique through clean design, light, form and shape. Her
many years of experience gives her the ability to be adaptable and flexible throughout the design
process.

Before establishing Star Architecture, Aleksandra worked from 2008-2015 with several notable
architecture practices in Melbourne after moving to Australia from Serbia. Her local experience extends
from notable single to multi-residential and to a variety of commercial projects.

Prior to her move to Australia in 2008, Aleksandra was successfully operating her own practice in
Belgrade, Serbia for 8 years. During this period she was responsible for delivering projects of varying
scales and complexity including the renovation and redevelopment of the National Museum in Belgrade,
development of new Coca Cola and Siemens offices buildings in Belgrade, and the Kura Olympic Centre
development in Azerbaijan.
